Tonight we finished watching Anne of Green Gables. The girls have been very interested in the story, especially LittleZabba. She was very excited when it became clear that Gilbert “liked” Anne Shirley. She giggled every time they would talk, or when Gilbert would give Anne “that” look.

The credits rolled with Gilbert and Anne walking together. LittleZabba let out a big sigh, and said,

That’s the end!? Dang. I wanted to see them kiss.

This morning LittleZabba wanted a snack. She went to the cupboard and decided to she wanted to try something new. She chose crackers with the spreadable cheese. She doesn’t normally like cheese, so I was surprised when she wanted to try it. When she opened it she asked,

Oh, do I dip the cracker in the cheese?

I responded, “They mean for you to use the stick and spread the cheese on yourself.”

With a stunned look she said,

I have to spread the cheese on myself?

In the midst of playing, BigZabba calls to me,

Mommy, can we go play in your room? We won’t get anything out, we’ll use our imagination. Our imaginations aren’t messy.

This weekend is BigZabba’s birthday. Today we were talking about what kind of snack she would like to take to school on Friday to celebrate with her class. Because of school rules it has to be a store bought snack with no nuts, due to an allergy in the class. I suggested Oreo cookies, but BZ said that she wanted something that reminded everyone of Thanksgiving, since her birthday is close to Thanksgiving. Her suggestion was

a hard, dry cookie, to remind us of the land the pilgrims lived on.

Sounds appetizing doesn’t it?!

After LittleZabba said some unkind things to BigZabba I tried to have a talk with her about only using kind words.
Why did you say such mean things to your sister?

I don’t know, but can I tell you how it happened? The nice words are in the back (pointing to her tongue) and the mean words are in the front, so they come out first.

Mid-conversation she yells,

Don’t put that on your head!  You need to eat that!

Not 3 minutes later I hear,

No!  Don’t kill him, he’s not a bad guy!

Important back information – We have had a few mushrooms grow in our grass in the last few days.  Today BigZabba read a fairy book.

Mom, about the fairies.  You know when we pull the mushrooms we are destroying the fairy’s homes.

Mommy, when will I turn into a monster?

This morning we took a few minutes to pray for Stellan, who is having heart surgery today.

LittleZabba said,

Dear Jesus, Please help Baby Stellan to be safe and help him to have a safe, fun heart activity today.

Tonight we were making a care package to send to Stellan.  As we were putting it together the girls and I each said a prayer for Stellan and his family.  When we were done BigZabba said,

Well, that is all we can do.  Pray, help and give.
